More Than Ever, Canada Needs the Canada Games

TT NORTH No Comments

In the North, we understand the true power of community, resilience, and belonging. These aren’t just words, they are the heart of who we are. And they’re also the heart of what the Canada Games have been about for nearly 60 years.

Today, more than ever, Canada needs the Canada Games.

The Canada Games aren’t just a sporting event. They are about unity, bringing Provinces and Territories together from coast to coast to coast. They are about connection, building friendships that span across regions and cultures. They are about resilience, offering athletes a place to rise, to face challenges, and to grow stronger through sport.

Here in the Northwest Territories, we know that every opportunity matters. Whether it’s a young athlete taking their first step onto a national stage, a coach gaining invaluable experience, or a community coming together to cheer, the Canada Games help us dream bigger, work harder, and believe stronger.

It’s about sparking greatness, not just on the podium, but in our schools, our rinks, our recreation centres, and our communities. It’s about investing in the future of sport and leadership. It’s about creating spaces where Northern youth can shine, where they can proudly say: “I belong here.”

From inspiring more than 140,000 volunteers across Canada, to fueling local pride and economic growth with each edition, the Canada Games are a legacy of hope, determination, and unity.

At Table Tennis North, we are proud to support this message. Proud to see our athletes, coaches, and officials take part. Proud to be part of something that brings all of us, no matter where we live, a little closer together.

Because it’s not just about the medals. It’s about the memories, the growth, and the ripple effect of believing in something bigger than ourselves. More than ever, Canada needs the Canada Games. And the North will always be ready to answer that call.

We Stand Tall

TT NORTH No Comments

The creation of the song ‘We Stand Tall’ came from the inspiration of the perseverance, hard work, and team support of Hockey and Table Tennis athletes. We stand together for “We Stand Tall” and share the song throughout the upcoming Canada Winter Games.

Song was created by Jaycee Leon

Lyrics

That icy chill is rolling in
The Dehcho River’s running deep
And we blazed the trail that we’re walkin’
It’s time to meet our destiny

Scaling over the Mackenzie Mountains
The Northern Lights guide the way
Win or lose, we’re all champions
Nobody’s gonna put out our flame

‘Cause we stand tall
Breaking down every wall
Yeah, we stand tall
NWT through it all
We stand tall
Reach out and take your chance
Hold your Territory’s pride within your hands
And stand up tall

Just look at how far we’ve come
Left all our doubts in the past
We’ve worked hard, but still had fun
Gotta make every moment last

Each second is ours for the taking
Each challenge an new open door
Can you feel the Arctic shaking?
It’s us waiting to see what’s in store

As we stand tall
Breaking down every wall
Yeah, we stand tall
NWT through it all
We stand tall
Reach out and take your chance
Hold your Territory’s pride within your hands
And stand up tall
Stand up tall

You heard the call, you dove right in
The Arctic Ocean guided you here
So trust yourselves and look within
You’ll see the way is crystal clear

As we all now come together
Build each other up every day
The only way is up, it only gets better
So let’s rise to the trials that we face

As we stand tall
Breaking down every wall
Yeah, we stand tall
NWT through it all
We stand tall
Reach out and take your chance
Hold your Territory’s pride within your hands
And stand up tall
Stand up tall
